Modifiers (Optional for Your First Claim)
Modifiers adjust how a procedure is billed, not what the procedure is.
They tell the payer there was something special about the service so reimbursement is handled correctly.
If your practice doesn’t routinely use modifiers, skip this section for now.
You can come back to it later without breaking anything.

When You Should Set Up Modifiers
Set up modifiers if you regularly bill common ones such as:
- 25 – Significant, separately identifiable service
- 59 – Distinct procedural service
- 26 / TC – Professional / Technical components
If you don’t recognize these, don’t force it.
Your first claim does not depend on this.
Why This Matters Later (Not Now)
AllMed PM lets you:
- Assign default modifiers at the procedure level
- Automatically carry them onto claims
- Override or remove them on the claim if needed
This saves time once you’re billing volume — but it’s not required to get paid today.

From the top navigation menu:

- Choose Modifier
- Click Add
