Create Your First Claim
This is where everything you’ve set up comes together.
You’re creating a real, printable CMS-1500 claim.
Start the Claim
From the Patient record:
- Click Add Claim at the top
- Select CMS-1500 (ICD-10)
The claim entry screen opens.
What Is Already Filled In (Do Not Change)
AllMed PM automatically pulls in:
- Patient
- Rendering Provider
- Insurance
- Facility
- Place of Service
- File Date
If it looks correct, leave it alone.
Enter Diagnosis (Fast + Keyboard Friendly)
How to Type Diagnosis Codes, when entering diagnosis codes:
- Do NOT type the dot
- Type the code straight through
Example:
- Diagnosis = A18.11
- Type: A1811
AllMed PM formats it correctly for you.
Multiple Diagnoses (Tab Flow)
- The cursor starts in Diagnosis A
- Type the first diagnosis → press Tab
- Type the second diagnosis → press Tab
- Continue as needed
When you’re done entering diagnoses:
- Press Enter
AllMed PM jumps you directly to the Date of Service field.
No mouse required.
Diagnosis Lookup (If You’re Not Sure)
If you don’t know the exact code:
- Type a keyword (example: tuberculosis)
- Click Next to scroll through matches
- Click Next again until you find the correct diagnosis
- Click OK to select it
This lets you search by description instead of memorizing codes.
Dates of Service (Smart Defaults)
When you land in Date of Service:
- It defaults to today’s date
To change it:
- Type MMDD
- Press Tab
- The system automatically fills in the current year
Example:
Typing 1204 becomes 12/04 (current year assumed).
Date Memory (Huge Time Saver)
AllMed PM remembers the last Date of Service used.
That means:
- You can batch claims by day
- You don’t have to re-enter the date for every claim
- You can skip the field entirely when the date stays the same
Change it only when needed.
Add a Procedure Line
This is where the charge is calculated.
AllMed PM handles the math for you — but you always stay in control.
- Click Add New Line
- Enter the Procedure code
The system automatically:
- Pulls the default charge per unit
- Sets Units to
1.00
Units × Fee (Automatic)
Charges are calculated as:
Example:
- Fee = $100
- Units =
2 - Total Charge =
$200
Change the units and the total updates automatically.
No calculator needed.
Overwriting the Dollar Amount (Totally OK)
If you need to change the charge for this claim only:
- Click in the Charge field
- Overwrite the amount
